AutoCAD 2004 relies on Microsoft Windows for much of its enhanced performance. This version also include high quality presentations through true colour, RAL color support and industry-standard Pantone. This version supports DWG file format as well as the enhanced Design Web Format (DWF6). It also supports i-drop, which lets you drag and drop items from different websites into designs. It also support object enabler that reads objects in industry-specific apps, as well as digital signatures. 

Toolbars have been redesigned in this version some buttons have been added while some have been removed. The format of the icons are now 16×16 and 32×32 instead of 16×15 and 32×30 and supports true color and transparency AutoCAD 2004 opens faster than 2002 version. Xrefs ( A command used for cross reference plans and objects to minimize repetitions and maximize consistency hence saving time and improving productivity)  are loaded faster from network than 2002.
